At the pre-school where I work we had a little lad with an asd dx, he has a lovely family who were having a hard time early last year coming to terms with his dx, he is hard work but lovely, anyway his little brother [2.5]started pre-school in the spring and we had a few concerns about him but wanted to observe him for a while before we decided whether to talk to mum about refering him. Today she came in looking really down and said that he had been for a development check and the HV is concerned about him, he has little or no language and is not aware of other people at all, he doesn't respond to his name but is able to follow routines. We are all concerened about him but I really feel for his mum she looked so deflated today at the thought of having to ASD boys,
No need to reply, just felt sad and wanted to get it off my chest.Sad

Thats an idea, I don't want to be in trouble for confidentiality. I just needed to get it off my chest, sometimes I think I will stop working with kids cos it hurts too much when you get to know families really well and then this kind of thing happens.
