Got it ladies, got it!!!!

DLA that is! AS from Amelia's 4th Birthday at the end of October we will get;

high rate care and high rate mobility!!!!!!

Got home from an exhausting day out, trying to push Amelia around in her buggy up and down hills in a wonderful gardens/enchanted forest! You let her out for a bit, clinging onto her for dear life, and then brave the fight to get her back in the buggy!
As soon as we stepped in the front door I saw the brown envelope looming. I am gobsmacked!

are you gonna get a car now? and a blue badge? you should get the blue badge now easily!

anniebear · 01/09/2005 19:35

Thats brilliant Dingle, am made up for you

xxxxxxx

Dingle · 01/09/2005 19:48

I don't really think it has sunk in yet. You just get so used to being knocked back don't you.

We have just got her a blue badge, and funny enough it was only last week I rang the DWP offices and advised them of that and the fact that we have just got a block of OT sessions and a program will be made up for continual use throughout home,nursery...

I haven't even thought about a new car!!!!
I did a quick scan through a leaflet about car tax though, but wasn't sure of the qualifications.
I will probably look into that more.

Silly really, out today, it made me so angry at the total lack of thought that goes into some of these "family" places. A huge house/garden/woodland all open to the public, 1 disabled toilet-right at the entrance! It's only been this week or so that we have started asking about disabled consessions too. I used to feel a bit of a fraud, but seeing some of the tiny little tots today, roaming freely around the gardens and playing in the woodland walks, it does bring it all home to you..IYSWIM!

AS usual ladies. I must say a huge thank you to all of you who gave me the support when completing those rotten forms.

Amelia's entitlement is for 3 years. Her 1st one was also for 3 years, is this a standard thing?

tissy · 01/09/2005 20:19

were you at kelburn by any chance, Dingle?

Dingle · 01/09/2005 20:26

Kelburn! No tissy. We went to groombridge, on the kent/sussex borders. A really lovely place. The enchanted forest was great, DS was in his element running around, but Amelia was getting rather stressed out in the constraints of her buggy!

Where is Kelburn?

OP posts:
Dingle · 01/09/2005 20:28

have a look!
groombridge

Kelburn is in Scotland..has an enchanted forest and very poor toilet facilities though, so thought I recognised it from the description!

coppertop · 01/09/2005 20:49

Hurray!

Congratulations!

heartinthecountry · 01/09/2005 22:39

Great news Dingle - and good that you don't have to apply again for another 3 years. Not sure how they work out how long to offer an award for but I have just had to reapply for the 3rd time and dd not even 3!! So that's good .

onlyjoking9329 · 01/09/2005 22:46

brilliant news dingle glad you got top rate both, you can push for longer than 3 years my son when he was four got top rate both for 12 years, he couldn't have got it for longer, thou i did stress that he has autism and will always have autism, it seemed to work for him.
the car tax exemption means if you dont get a motorbility car then you can get free road tax, we use this for our non mobility car

eidsvold · 01/09/2005 23:03

fab news dingle

KarenThirl · 02/09/2005 07:32

Fabulous news Dingle, really pleased for you. Good things come to those who wait, eh?! And nag the DWP for all their worth too, of course.

chonky · 02/09/2005 08:08

Great news Dingle

Davros · 02/09/2005 14:34

Wonderful news Dingle. Bet you thought that brown envelope contained bad news!

Dingle · 02/09/2005 15:01

Yes, I was convinced it was going to be bad!

Rang them this morning to see if there was any reason they hadn't awarded the mobility until she was 4. They told me that they had no choice as my application was a renewal and they had to go from the date of expiry IYSWIM.

I was told a few months ago not to bother completing the seperate mobility forms because her whole claim needed to be looked ino, including her mobility. Now that to me is wrong information!

I can appeal against the dates but I take my chances with the whole claim and may end up worse off! Knowing my luck, I'll stick to what we have but it mad me angry all the same. It would have been so easy just to duplicate the info and put the "mobility" claim in alongside her renewal.

Still, must count myself "lucky!" Don't mean to sound ungrateful!

Glad you've had all this good news Dingle. I guess all that form filling and stress over it was worth it then?

Fancy a coffee soon? DD has started mornings at school now so should yhave a routine back soon.

Dingle · 02/09/2005 19:12

Yes cadders, that would be great. Amelia doesn't start back until week beg.12th. She is at mainstream Tuesday-Friday now, so in general, any day but Mondays.

Hope you are all well.xx
