What toys do your SN children play with?

Dd2 (ASD) seems to have loads of toys but at the moment is not playing with any. Since buying her a infogrip mouse (roller ball) for the pc she has become obsessed with it and will not do anything else. She has Happy Land, a farm, wheely bug and my little ponies which she used to play with a lot. She uses imaginitive play (makes toys talk etc). I keep forgeting she is almost 5 and i guess she has outgrown most of her toys. She loves dd1's playmobil but breaks it and eats the bits .

What toys do your children love?

Are there such things as toys for older children that are sturdy and don't contain small bits?

Dd doesn't really play as such. She is a wanderer and if something grabs her attention then she lasts for a few minutes at that activity! They say at nursery that she lasts longer than that though.. I'm so crap at being creative that I have run out of all my ideas by mid morning!

She can now use mouse and loves cbeebies and poisson rouge websites.. dvds on computer that she can select and control with the mouse especially if they have songs.. She loves books too.. but only familiar books these days.

Loves water play, ( drinks it - as it comes squirting out of the hose - yuck! ) sand, (eats it..) shaving foam, bubbles, balloons, likes sitting on them til they pop! Or likes me to blow them up and likes seeing them fly round the room when you let them go!

Still mouthing all the time, hate to think of all the awful things sg=he's had in her mouth (and have to watch what she's grabbing of her brothers) She loves sensory stuff. She doesn't do symbolic play yet really.. Loves music and her instruments and having me sing songs to her all bloody day long!

All sounds a lot but she could do all of the above and it's still only 10.00am!

What she really loves is going swimming, in the pool but also has so much fun in the sea.. She loves being splashed around in the waves.. She wears a wetsuit so she can stay in without getting cold, but screams and yells when she has to have it taken off to get dressed!

Sorry for long post but was nice for me to think of all the things she likes to do!!

DS is really into books at present - doing the voices even. There's one with an anaconda eating children at the zoo which is his personal favourite at the moment. Even though it made my friend's DD cry (giant snake eating children, and all that)
