hope your all well its been such a long time since i was last on here

well update ds has now been discharged from SALT as his speech is near on normal for age now

this last school year was fantastic he coped really well and was invited to lots of parties etc such a huge difference from pre school although noticed so much change once he was sleeping thanks to the melatonin

his become a really jokey character loves playing pranks and has come on leaps

he has been dx with hyper-mobile (sp?) joints just recently explaining the pains he gets in his legs

we still have off days but over all his really made such huge leaps and now getting ready for yr 1 cannot believe how fast this last yr has gone

we are taking his friend on holiday for a week so that will be interesting to see how that goes he has had his friend stay here and all gone well his friend seems to understand my son which helps

anyway wanted to say hi i havent forgotten you or your support its just been hard on other levels not with ds for once lol so havent been on in a long while

but i havent forgotten any of you or your wonderful children hope to catch up with you all again hope everyones little nes and not so little ones are ok and yourselves also xx

RaggedRobin · 03/08/2010 18:09

waitingforgodot · 03/08/2010 21:54

Brilliant! Great news.

Shells · 04/08/2010 05:43

Bubbla you were very supportive when my DS was starting school. Glad its working out so well.

bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 10:40

thanks guys it is wonderful i just have to keep begging to keep him on the melaonin as all the leaps came on from him getting enough sleep

as for the speech im so pleased he was soo far behind some words still are pronounced not quite right and speech can sound babyish compared to how some of his peers speak but how he speaks etc is near on par to his peers his no longe rthe child no one understands but he is 5 now so its been long haul to get here we never did get any more SALT either had to wait over a yr for the appt to be discharged on same day thank goodness i was able to help at home and he responded to it

i am little bit out of touch what has been going on with you all but hopefully can be back to offer and get more support again

shells how is your ds getting on at school?

im not on to brag how well were doing so really dont want it to come across like that lol we do still have our bad days i tend not to focus so much on them as over all the progress made is far more worth talking aout lol

cant wait to catch up and hopefully havent been away too long to be part of it all again

thank you all again you were all so great and look forward to your words of wisdom again xx

Nice to hear from you Bubblagirl, glad your DS is doing so well, dd1 is being acessed for hyper-mobil joints (just waiting for the referral). Well done to your DS, i hope my dd2 manages to do as well with her speach.

Enjoy your holiday xxxx

bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 13:33

helo marne hope all is well with youim sureyour dd2 will do just as well with her speech took ds along time his speech as you may remember didnt come along until he was 3 half and then by 4 half more understandable his now 5.3 and is much better still sounds imature but is able to hold conversation and most missing speech sounds have arrived maybe 4 missing but is not abnormal for his age SALT said

good luck with referral i didnt even realise in all honesty i thought he was over reacting every now and then until he was limping for along time wiht no explantion peadiatrician spotted his feet turning in and waited 6 mths for physio he just got dx on monday

we go on holiday next sat so not too long left i need the break hugely lots of stress this end for once its nice it not being ds xx

Marne · 04/08/2010 13:43

Thank Bubblagirl, she is doing well with her speach, she only started talking last year (3.4) and is improving each day.

Dd1 has been moaning about her ankles, legs and hips for a long time, i just thought she was moaning and being a little bit lazy, we now think she may have hyper-mobile joints and low muscle tone (she has always been really weak), its taken us 6 months to get a referral after going to the GP for the 4th time, this time he noticed how bad her feet were (turning in).

bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 14:17

seems your dd and my ds have same symptoms regarding the hyper- mobile feet turning in pains in knees hips etc also ds elbows he used to complain about arm pain and didnt think much of it poor mite

also your dd2 regarding speech ds was 3.6 when started speaking so it took along time it was slow progress but at least the progress has been made that 2 years on his joking and holding conversation never thought we would see the day and was 3 years of continuous stress its nice now to have a breather from all the worry

but also good for others to see that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel when you see a child follow the patterns of another it gives you hope

hope you get the answers needed regarding dd1 and im sure dd2 will catch up just as my ds did i know there all different but as long as progress is seen then the progress continues to grow as they do

when you look back at my first posts no speech and no speech sounds only 2 that went on for well over a yr and then now its like looking at 2 different children my grey hairs remind me it is the same child lol xx

fanjo how is your dd doing now? x

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/08/2010 16:28

Not bad, but her speech is still terrible and very very unclear, she has real trouble with it, she commmunicates quite well though, is being quite stroppy these days, but it's quite normal toddler behaviour, like an NT 2 year old i suppose, it's wearing!!

She loves nursery and is doing well there, can't wait until it starts again on 20th August!

bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 16:59

oh bless her well my ds wasnt clear with speech until 3.5 saying clear he had not many speech sounds but you could work out waht he was saying so still plenty of time for her speech to come along

glad she loves nursery the holiday does seem to be dragging doesnt it lol

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 04/08/2010 17:00

She did have clear speech til 2.10, then it went unclear, is coming back a BIT I hope, doesn't stop her being assertive though!

bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 17:51

ds back tracked with his speech i remember now he just seemed to lose it and it worried me so much they reckon he had information over load and it all became too much which caused him to regress slihtly

i doubt it will stop your dd being assertive its in her blood lol

OP posts:
bubblagirl · 04/08/2010 17:53

i also found whenever my ds was trying to over come something he would regress few months later he would take a leap and so on start the cycle again

his at an age where his understanding is better now so doesnt sho these signs anymore but he did alot between 2 and 4
