SS children disablity team

Just wondering how long it took once you got referal befor you was assigned someone hell or any contact .

The community Paed refered beginning of June, she did as she felt that time we looked at Dp .

I have tried calling the duty team every day this week and we cant even get through to them all ,calls go through call centre who then call department direct

and then once spoke to them put call through.Now they tried every day and no answer or goes to answerphone so they did the standard thing sent email over which means you should be called in 3 days

Now ds is not totally unknown to them as we already have the Ot from same team involved .

But how do I get them to talk to me if they wont even answer phones

is that the disablity team or the Cp team or both

me thinsk going need one , like you we have the dam Ot in the statement but its the bloody Nhs Ot that wont provide .And dont get me started on borders

MIne is actually nice and helpful.

But she does return calls, not doing so is not a good sign.

yep thats what am going to force at Tribunal , mind our bloody Ot is crap anyway .

Oh were give ds hand grip to help him write FFs the poor bugger cant hold the pen less its like a dagger and arghhhhhhh we tried hand grips , slopes cusions before and there favourite try getting ds to write letter sin sand or foam despite me pointing out this been done since he was 3 yo

Hell they dont even answer phones not even the call centre handlers can get any answers

Tribinal the ss Ot we see is equipment based mind were still waiting for things she agreed we need .Hmm me thinks need to get her email so casn remind her

SS oT is different from NHS / LEA Ot, at least it is in our area. NHS / LEA ot is the same woman and does the ot, exercises etc in school as written on the statement, she will also look at equipment at school, they used to do the equipment at home but once DS turned 5 that swapped to the SS ot.

They are a difffernt story althogether, we waited 2 years, yes 2, to even get hear from them, in spite of repeated calls from me and the paedaitrcian. However she has been very helpful. WE are getting a supportive chair for home through her, most of the bath and toilet help we already have from before he was 5 but we are now looking at ramped access to the house, widening doorways and a downstairs toilet through the DFG system. She has been very good with this and we are at the stage of putting it out to tender. Although we are now 3 years since we were first referred.

They do seem to have different remits and i wouldn't expect to get any statement type ot through the ss but I would expect to get help with living in the house through them.

The rest of the children's with disabilities team have washed their hands of us,although admittedly I originally accepted their assessment, via a brief 5 min phone call, that i didn't need any social care help. (stupid emotcion!) I have't challenged this yet but may do in a little while.

yes we have the ss doing our equpiment she is just so slow need to remind her

its the blooody social worker i need so we can argue about Dp ,its more that for ds to attend anything he needs supports for lack of language and becuase of his Pd .Thinking things like beavers , playschemes etc .We not even had a call from them despite me trying t speak to them and paed doing referal
