I am likely to hear back today (or latest, tomorrow) on the LEA panel's decision to name a school with a specialist ASD unit on my DS's statement.

I am bricking it.

I am shitting myself that they won't name it and we will have to do the whole tribunal malarkey and DS will have to spend yet more time at his current school (nice school, unable to cope with him even with full time 1:1).

I am equally shitting myself that we will get what we want and I will have to break the news to DS that he isn't going back to his current school next term.

Stomach in knots.

I can pass a cuppa and a wedge of cake ( am on a coffee break from work lol).

the whole thing is just bloody horrid.. I really hope that it goes the right way for you.. and you will have summer holidays to prepare for the hopefully new school.

5inthebed · 19/07/2010 12:33

I've got my fingers crossed they'll name the school. When will you find out?

ReasonableDoubt · 19/07/2010 12:35

Thanks, Arsenic!

I am trying to lose just a tiny bit of my jelly belly before we go on holiday and I have to face the horror of revealing my pasty whale-like flesh to the hordes - so will pass on the cake Will have a coffee though (my fourth of the day!).

That's just it. We (me and DH) have spent the last 18 months like a p[air of rabid dogs with bones trying to get a DX, then a SA, then trying to get them to write a statement that actually means anything.

If we get what we want now, we can finally take a proper mental break, at least until September. But if we don't, the fight will continue and it will, in all likelihood, be the worst one yet . Also grinding teeth at the thought of dipping into our measly savings for a solicitor

Hand holding and fingers crossed xx

5inthebed · 19/07/2010 12:49

RD, getting DS2's SA was the hardest part so far, it was so stressful. I was the same place you are this time last year actually.

Wishing you all the best. Have a bottle of wine ready!

sugarcandymonster · 19/07/2010 13:16

I've got a similar decision due later today - hope it's good news for both of us.

sc13 · 19/07/2010 13:19

Fingers crossed for both of you - we were in similar situation not long ago

PolarEyes · 19/07/2010 13:47

fingers crossed for you and sugarcandy

roundthebend4 · 19/07/2010 16:47

Any news ,might be worth calling your caseworker more often than not there part of the panel

sugarcandymonster · 19/07/2010 17:10

Nope, not good news here . LA is refusing to change to an appropriate placement, so tribunal is going ahead on Wednesday.

Hope your news is better, ReasonableDoubt.

ReasonableDoubt · 19/07/2010 18:05

So sorry to hear that sugarcandy. Do you feel well prepared for it?

No news here.

cointacted our caseworker and said he would contact me 'the minute he finds out what the decision is'. Will probably be tomorrow. I really hope so!

Thanks, ReasonableDoubt. We have stacks of evidence/preparation, so I suppose so - still not looking forward to it though.

Hang in there, I'm sure you'll get the news tomorrow!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 19/07/2010 19:17

RD

Will keep fingers crossed for you for a good result.

Reasonabledoubt, hope that you get good news, but it you don't really the Tribunal was less of an ordeal that I thought it would be; in fact it was all rather flat, and "stuffy"; rather an anti-climax after all my hard work and months and months of research and preparation.

keepyourmouthshutox · 19/07/2010 22:16

Good luck RD. Hope it is good news. Will be in the same position myself soon.

5inthebed · 20/07/2010 09:18

Hope you get a call today RD, with good news of course.

ReasonableDoubt · 20/07/2010 16:49

Nothing so far. Looks like they are not going to call today, then . I was told 'Monday or Tuesday, probably' last week. I will be harassing the case officer again tomorrow morning, I think

Still no word. Panel was on Friday. Surely by Weds afternoon they must know what the decision is? What is taking so long? FFS.
