Freedom of Information

I intend to make a Freedom of Information request to my LEA and I came across this website:

www.whatdotheyknow.com

I just wondered if anyone has used it? My concern is that the LEA will be less forthcoming if they know that their response will be available to the general public.

BUT, I have previously made a FOI request and the reply I received was basically a "fob off". I was too busy with other stuff to challenge it, but with hindsight, I should have.

So maybe, they would be more forthcoming if they thought that their fudge/fob off reply would be made public?

All thoughts and experiences of making FOI requests are welcome!

I just went on my council website and it had an e-mail facility to send the request. I had the info sent to me within a week which I thought was really good.

Contacting the Information Commisioner if unsatisfied with FOI response is yr best bet
