challenging Ot and physio recommendations

After some advice ds has seen ot and physio recently for full assesments and they have put ds below 1% for gross and fine motor compared to nt 5 yo.

The report them selves are good list loads of ds diffculties , but the recommendations do not match up to the report.

Now ds does have daily 30 minutes ot in statement and half termly review , but the Ot and phsyio locally wont be going into ds school and all offering is a block of 6 sessions in yearsz or so times , no equipment even though they identified ds cant hold a pencil except in palmer grip and that he tends to slump after 5 minutes when sitting in a normal chair .

So my chances of getting equipment in school not looking good

I have first hand experience of NHS OTs and SALT being in what I would politely term "collusion" with the Education Authority.

I had the same problem.

The reports that we received for Statutory Assessment from the NHS OT and SALT identified most of my child's difficulties, but then the recommendations were hopeless.

It is so they do not have to provide what is needed and is all about saving money.

The only answer is to pay for an independent OT report, that should identify your child's difficulties AND what therapy and equipment they need.

How does one find a good independent OT?

Kickass , Im having more of a problem with the Nhs rather than the Lea .
Lea took on board everyone of the recommendations from Ican so the salt bits were great , they said they will put in he Ot recommendations in amneded statement but can only put what is recommended, but they are so rubbish

Ds does already have daily ot program and half termly in his statement Herts cave din on that but its getting the Nhs to provide anything usefull , no recommendations on seating equipment

Can see I am going have to spend out for thAT private report
