Can I ask how soon after the telephone interview did you get the date for the assesment days?

Been given a date for interview and I forgot to ask the waiting time between that and the assesment.

It was BIBIC who got soemoone in to teach PECs to ds3 when nobody here could get tehir arses together, and I strongly beleive PECS that led to DS's developing speech.

HAs Karen of BIBIC moved on then? She was a qualified SLT in her previous role. Of the ones I can find pictured on their site I know Graham has extensive RL experience of ASD, nd Michelle (of whom zoology as a degree is so badly used- wonder how you'd react to my religion degree, if not knowing about my post grad cert / charity worker xperience / 2 asd kids / 4 years working in LD sector)
is one of only 2 professionals who has ever managed to get anything from ds1.

Anyway, afaik BOBATH is for CP; i've never ehard of the other asd ones )forgive me but given my studfies that does concern me) and physio is irrlevant for my boys.

And the paperwork helped us get statements X 2, one of which has resulted in a child being sent to an SNU and the other a recent upgrade so certainly needed.

Not even before you consider that BIBIC's £50 policy means that far more parents can access it than other types of therapy- my uni is associated with Dyscovery; looks amazing (I have a dyspraxic child as well) but not a hope in hell of affording it!

Oh and bbefore someone comments on my typing (newbies usually do) I will save them the hassle here

TheArsenicCupCake · 15/07/2010 11:38

sancti.. My typing is rubbish just because it is

( being dyslexic I have to remember all the patterns all the words make on the keyboard.. And if I change comps or use the phone.. It's a nightmare!)

Debs they did not tell me what I wanted to hear , wanted to hear yes he is just delayed of course the drs etc are right he will catch up .

The aqssment was very sobering and i ended up crying reading it , bit like ds last physio ot report .

But they did tell me of things I could do to help him , gave me confidence to carry on fighting to get him help from the so called proffesionals

Oh and sancti lol I have no reason for my bad tyoing other than my hands type quicker than I can spell

debs40 · 15/07/2010 12:13

Unless you saw someone with diagnostic capacity they would not be able or should not have given you a prognosis of any sort.

roundthebend4 · 15/07/2010 12:24

They did not give prognosis just high lighted all the areas that ds had problems with and that was a lot.the cp was just an obversation thy recommended Sking to see neuro to follow up

they was right by rme fought what felt like half the nhs to get to neuro .he confirmed their suspcions that ds had Cp

bqronion have. You talked to ican see if yu qualify for their bursary we got a very large reduction in there costs and theyhave continued to assist me with ds .Ican are someone else I can Not praise enough

Bibic definately did not tell us what we wanted to hear either. I read their report whilst in floods of tears, it was a very depressing read. However, they were right and their half hour program has done more for DD2 in the last 2 months than all the weekly physio/ot/SALT DD2 has had for the last 2 years.

I will definately be going back for as long as they can take us. Qualified or not, they are our lifeline!

This has been a very useful thread for me.

I was trying to decide if i should take the dd's to BIBBIC, we live near by so i thought i would look into it, i sent off for the info and now i need to ring them to sort out an appointment.

Is there a charge (50.00?)?

It sounds as though its worth it (mainly good stories).

roundthebend4 · 15/07/2010 14:48

Yes the £50 is to cover paperwork etc

SanctiMoanyArse · 15/07/2010 16:19

Tracey has 2 posts on MN, both to make comments about BIBIC nd brainwave.

tracey if you want to be part of sn mumsnet then can I suggest wider participation?
