DS's school is having a bit of a shake up of staff - HT retiring, and a few other people moving around - including person playing SENCO - parents were invited to evening event which included among other things - 5 min introduction from new SENCO - she seems very nice - she announced the school will "support children Across the Phases" - any idea ? It is a junior school (ie older primary - years 4 - 7)

what are the chances of her knowing what it means?

She might have been aiming for phases = stages (of development)

Primary is a "phase". Secondary is a "phase". I think she means she'll support them in transition from Y6 to Y7.

re; tribunalgoer - I'd already put my hand up twice to ask what they meant...there are a lot of children in the school who have English as 2nd lang - the parents are probably used to only partially following what is being said to them - all the more reason for the school to avoid meaningless jargon - maybe they should put that in their "inclusion" policy ;)

r3 - you're a genius - thanks
