pre-school aged basic book that "explains" autism / other SN in general

Hi all, am not sure of this is the right place but I'm really hoping someone can help me out here.

I am a nanny turned childminder; I look after a little boy (just turned 4) who has autism and dyspraxia. He is a really sweet gentle little boy, non verbal (using makaton) and has a very obvious "stim" habbit of hand flapping (sometimes knocking over / bashing into other children accidentally).

I am after a book than just explains to other children (I look after 0 years to 6 years about autism and thatthe little boy can understand you if you speak in a certain way - you have to say his name first normally for example.

Is there any chance of me getting a book like this? If I made a book do you think it might be offensive? Are there any books on SN in generall (not nec autism) that are great for pre-school aged children?

At the moment I have one by Todd Parr which is caled it's ok to be different which is the sort of style I like.

If you look on the National Autistic Society Website they have lots of resources aimed at young children specifically mentioning tyical autistic behaviours such as flapping and pushing.

When my son was getting diagnosed portage brought some books for my other children,

they can usually be contacted via the local health centre/hospital or local authority.

we have a couple one something like my brother has autism and another similar one - can find them on amazon - but I have to say i was disappointed with both because of course all children with autism are so different and lots of the traits in the book did not match my DS. So i have decided to make my own with photos etc which is more specific to DS for nursery and his brothers. I would suggest you get similar ones from the library and make one more specific to the child you look after as then you can talk about his particular sensory issues etc
