Which route with STATEMENTING?

I have asked for yet another assessment. We were refused assessment last time (4mths ago)

In my bit should I ask for assessment because:

A) NO-ONE will give me any reports whatsoever and so i have absolutely no idea what his needs are.

B) State that his needs are not being met, ie. hes been at nursery for 2wks now and on 3 occasions I had to pick him up early/ assist with him at school because they dont have the staff to 1-1 care for him (twice for music - he just runs amok, and once for assembly - which he has no hope at all of sitting thru)

C)same old Dx stuff (ASD, GDD, non-verbal,) plus new info of brain injury.

I just want to mention that i have no quibble at all with school, they are wonderful caring people who love him to bits.

So what sort of route should i take?

Incidentally we shall also be going to BIBIC in the next few weeks, so hopefully reports there should help too.

Why were you refused last time? I sit on panels so may be able to help.

reading between lines it was because he wasnt actually in nursery at that point and they said that because he is young he may be able to manage at school.

he is 3.3y but functions as 16mths. He is non-verbal and uses makaton (in a fashion!). He is also hyperactive with no concentration at all. As with most Autistic children doesnt have a sense of danger, but also has pica. He is dyspraxic with hypermobility, but VERY mobile! he has little understanding and cant understand instruction. He is at a basic word/naming level.

(it always sounds grim when written like that, in reality: he is a smiley happy chap, who looks alert and bright. you cant tell from a quick meeting that anything is wrong at all.)

Have the school not mentioned maybe getting the Educational Phsycologist involved?

the school have called a multi-agency meeting tomorrow. Included will be the Ed Psych for the school.

We have had a meeting before and she seemed to listen. In fact in a totally of the cuff moment, she used the phrase "if he was in another county then i would be pushing for a statement but here in XXXXX he doesnt need one."

obviously my child would be a totally different child half a mile down the road .

The meeting is at 12.30pm tomorrow - will come back and report...

Yes unfortunatly one Lea can differ greatly from another LEA 5 minutes down the road as to how they treat SN children
