My dd 3.9 has been having strange flashing sensation in her eyes which she has had an mri and eeg for, mri found some scarring on her brain and eeg some irregularity but not enough to diagnose epilepsy. She is havin 24hr eeg at end of month but if this comes back negative they are going to refer her to autism specialist as they believe flashing might be to do with emotions!!!! She does have some rituals and doesnt like changes in routine etc but isnt that like any 3 year old. Any advice i really dont know what i am looking for ? She does seem a bit behind educational wise she can only count to ten and still doesnt know her colours. Any thoughts would be appreciated because i dont know how possible occipital epilepsy could become possible autism.

Maybe try this post on special needs too. Lots of people with ASD knowledge on there.

have you had a look on the national autistic society website? this page mentions the "triad of impairments" to do with social and emotional, language and communication and development of flexibility of thought. does your dd have any issues that might come under those three areas?

there may be some info on this page about links with autism and epilepsy, but i just googled the site so don't know anything about its credentials.

Thanks for that rr i have had a look and i wud say def not autism, maybe aspergers syndrome though as some of those symptoms do sound like dd, i still think its more likely to be oocipital epilepsy
