I just wanted to let you all know that the LEA have conceded, the day before the Tribunal and our son is now going to the independent residential Asperger specific school that he needed!!!!

Parts 2, 3 and 4 have all been amended to what we requested.

We are OVER THE MOON!!

Typical though that the LEA give in the day before hand, but who cares,

WE HAVE WON!!!!!

Thats wonderful; news have not posted on your threads before but have been following, how awful though that they made you wait until the last minute

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/11/2008 18:40

Yay for you and your DS.

Not all LEA's by any means cave before tribunal; its shocking that you've had to go through all this to get this decision made.

Candlewax, just realised that I have posted on your thread before when you had another name. You were looking at Stanbridge EArl,can I ask if that is where you are going as we are thinking of looking for ds2 although it would mean him boarding quite a way from home which I am not sure about

coppertop · 26/11/2008 20:10

Well done and all good wishes for your son at this new school.

BONKERZ · 26/11/2008 21:19

fantastic! What a victory, enjoy it! Also enjoy the calm after the storm......i went from talking to the LEA daily before they conceded to not talking to them now for 3 months and counting!

RaggedRobin · 26/11/2008 22:26

sock it to em!

all the best for ds in new school.

Well done. Sorry Candlewax - I've not been on mumsnet for ages as so busy but was wondering how it all went. Your son must be thrilled and the school is so brilliant.

Floaty - my son did a trial at Stanbridge Earls. It is a lovely school but he didn't really do very well there and they turned him down. Thinking back it was the right decision because they do an hour to 2 hours of PE EVERY DAY after lunch and my son HATES PE and has no clue as to team games. They will take aspies and not too severe dyslexics but they don't want anything that is too quirky. It was a lovely school though and he had a lovely trial there.

Thanks for that flying mum,I'm not sure that SE would suit us euther then ,Slindon has also been mentioned but I worry that it is too far for us and also doesn't have a sixth form

clarisa · 08/12/2008 11:15

Fantastic News!!!! Well Done xxxx

countingto10 · 09/12/2008 19:44

Floaty, have you looked at St Dominic's School, Hambledon, nr Godalming. My son's had a wonderful 6 years there. They are opening a sixth form as a trial from next September. It may be worth a look.
