Hello everyone ,

My child is diagnosed with autism ,adhd and severe speech delay .He didnt talk until he was 7 and this were singular words but I was happy with the progress. He has been in special school since year 1,(we started at mainstream year R but they couldnt support his needsand he was transferred to special school) and in year 5 ,I thought his progress was stalling alittle bit and for a minute I thought maybe he has out grown special school.I thought maybe he had gotten the support that he needed there and there no more development space for him there ,and that's when I started the transition,it has been a journey ,fight ,and also self doubt and questioning if he really was ready .Fast forward he is now in mainstream 1 year since the transition and he has settled well and not saying it has all been rosy but the support I recieved from the school he joined made his transtion easy and settling even smoother. Are there other parents out there who have gone through this transition what was your experience ,what did you think of the support you recieved ,and how was the support in the school they joined .I think this thread can also help parents who are looking to make this move and also just encourage each other and discuss what more could have been done if any .
Thanks
