Hi, does anyone have advice or experience in motivating a Year 11 student with executive function challenges to study for their GCSEs? They admit that they find it hard to motivate themselves to study.

Would DC accept you helping them organise their notes and revision material, making a revision timetable (with regular rewards/breaks) and directly helping with revision?

Have you tried body doubling?

Have they received any study skills support?

For science, DS2 for Tassomai helpful. He only used it for science but they do other subjects.

Does DC take medication?

It is hard to get him to accept help, he doesn't think he needs it. I don't think he understands the amount of work involved with GCSEs.

I have not tried body doubling. I will change where he is working so I can sit beside him.

no medication

Would DS accept help from someone other than you? Such as an ADHD coach or study skills tutor?

When I posted my pp, I had it in my head DS had ADHD, but I don’t know where I got that from. Sorry.
