Transport for under 5s?

Does anyone know what happens when your child is under 5, but they're attending an out of borough specialist school? From what I've read, it's only a requirement from CSA. Summer born child, school is 7 miles (and 3 busses) away, I can't drive 😅

Would he be eligible for transport or will we have to get taxis each day? Gonna cost £80 per day. School was named at tribunal as the most appropriate school, and the only school within a 45 minute drive to have said they can meet need and offer a placement.

Thanks everyone ☺️

Definitely request transport and appeal if refused. While LAs don’t have the same duty to provide transport to DC below CSA, they do have the power to do so and they shouldn’t have a blanket policy of refusing just because they don’t have that the same duty.

Also, under section 42 of the Children and Families Act 2014, the LA has a duty to provide the provision in F of the EHCP. If transport is the only way DS can attend the school named in section I to receive that provision, then you can go down that route to request transport/challenge the decision.
