Apologies if the thread title is vague.
I am an experienced teacher and SENDCo with many years behind me. I am finding the role of SENDCo totally unmanageable and am not helping anyone -children, parents or teachers. We simply do not have the resources or time to do anything but fire fight. It's a very frustrating time for all.
I am seriously considering stepping away from my current role and setting up something that can genuinely help people (and provide an income). My specialisms are Autism and also Early Years although I do have lots of personal experience (my own children) with Dyslexia and ADHD.
I suppose I am asking what support would you use that isn't available in your area?

Adding that advocacy roles are not really appealing to me. I have done enough battling with Local Authorities to last me a life time.

I’m not sure if these are the types of roles that you mean, and they do exist but there aren’t enough of them, but you could consider:
Independent specialist teacher/SENCO.
If you have knowledge and understanding of EOTAS/EOTIS, EOTAS/EOTIS co-ordinator.
Tutor for DC with EOTAS/EOTIS. Many of these roles aren’t traditional tuition and the role is very different to a school teacher role.
