Hi
I would be grateful for some help please in navigating where to obtain a ASD/ADHD diagnosis from.
My daughter is 15yrs old & achieves well academically. Her school have raised concerns regarding a potential diagnosis based on their observed behaviours & her own disclosure to them. She wishes to pursue a career in Medicine.
I obviously want to get her all the support she potentially needs, both for now but also if she does choose a challenging Uni Course. I’m aware universities will require a diagnosis for them to provide adjustments to support students.
I believe I should seek an assessment via either an ed psych or psychiatrist? I’m happy to pay privately due to time pressures & this being her GCSE year. I am however lost on which of the two is the most suitable person to arrange an appointment with.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Many thanks

An EP can’t diagnose ASD/ADHD. Although they may be part of an MDT.

A psychiatrist can diagnose, but for ASD will need to be part of an MDT if the assessment is to follow NICE guidelines.
