our 12 year old son had his ADHD assessment a couple of weeks ago.
The “assessment” was 30 mins long, of which they only spoke to our son for 7 minutes and asked him the same questions which were on one of the questionnaires he filled out.
We have our phone call next week for them to tell us if they think he has ADHD or not.
I submitted A LOT of information. But between uploading the information and actually having the assessment was only 5 days, so I don’t think they would have had time to read the information before the assessment

My son was assessed for both ADHD and ASD by CP. For ADHD, we had a 2.5 hours zoom call with them, and for ASD a 3hrs zoom assessment of my son (ADOS) followed by a 2 hr call to take his history. The final diagnostic report referred to many details I, he and the school reported, in addition to their observations, so they did read it all. It took another 2 months to get the report, so they might well read it after the interviews. There was definitely a much longer observation of my son for the Autism diagnosis (3 hours) than for the ADHD diagnosis. They also only spoke to him for only 10 minutes during that assessment. I assume it's because for ASD they have to follow a particular standard test with standard questions and set challenges (ADOS), but there is nothing comparable for ADHD. Once they think they have enough, they'll stop. They have to get through immense volumes. Our NHS trust manages 40 patients a year. Clinical Partners does many thousands.

Thank you for getting back to me.
i felt so disheartened after the assessment as ours was only 30 minutes and we have been waiting so long for this.
I’ll wait to see what they say at he follow up phone call.

That’s shocking. An ADHD assessment should take hours and hours. And if necessary, include school observations too. Absolutely information from school staff too.

these RTC providers are shocking. So unethical.

I would absolutely complain.

the other issue you’ll have, is if there is a substandard assessment, you won’t find a Paediatrician/ Psychiatrist worth their salt prescribing any medication (should you choose to consider this, now or in the future).
