I'm worried about my 8 years old son .for medical reason and missing whole term of school , the school adviced us repeate year 2 and sadely we accepted but unfortunaitly he is still behind his level. He is reading progress is very slow and he hate reading , also his writing /spelling is not good . His speach is good but the pronunciation soemtimea not clear enough , sometimes he omit the first letter of words ! He had couple of speech & language sessions but the progress not as good as I expected ! I'm writing in SEN forum not because he is been diagnosed but just because I started to feel my sin might have some learning diffuculty but I don't know what this might be or what shall I do as first step ! Please if you think these symptoms indicate that he might have a certain. Issue advice me and I appreciate your opinions .

You don’t need a diagnosis in order for DC to have SEN. From your post, DS has SEN.

What support is the school providing? Has he seen an educational psychologist? Is he still receiving SALT even if progress is slow? Has anyone mentioned requesting an EHCNA?

Has he had a hearing test?
