Hi, I'd just like people thoughts and experiences. Im not sure if im over thinking things or not but im worried my 14 month old may have ASD. Its small things but there's afew indicators that could be signs in babies. She doesn't respond to her name or being spoken to in general. She can't copy simple actions, so can't wave/clap/ play peek aboo. She doesn't show a preference for a care giver and theres no reaction to seeing me or her dad after shes been at nursery etc. She doesn't make much eye contact. She can't say simple words or even babble.
Obviously I know she is very young but I just want to feel like im not imagining things. Or am I worrying over nothing.
This was brought up with the health visitor and we was referred to E.N.T for hearing test first. Which she has failed twice we are just waiting for the next stage.
Thank you for reading.

I think you're right to be following up on your concerns. She's very young, and it's hard to differentiate ASD from other conditions at that age. If she's failed her hearing test twice, that could certainly be causing the delays in babbling, so that should be investigated as the first thing.

It is brilliant the HV acted on the concerns.

In young children, hearing difficulties can sometimes present with signs similar to autism, which is why a hearing test is often done. Obviously, that doesn’t mean DD couldn’t also be autistic but the hearing difficulties need further investigation first.
