Does my daughter need a EHCP?

I’m new to all this and not sure what steps I need to take.
My daughter is 8 and in y3, last year she was diagnosed with adhd and two weeks ago diagnosed with autism.

From reading her school report she isn’t doing too well. Her concentration isn’t great and she needs prompting to do everything. She’s one of 27 in her class with one teaching assistant, so is kind of being left to get on with her work, but unless she’s being guided she will just wonder off and not do her work.

It’s made me realise that secondary isn’t that far away and she is definitely going to need help when she moves up.
The problem is that the senco at her school has never mentioned anything to me about an ehcp and I thought once she got a diagnosis that the school would be directing me about what to do next, but they haven’t said a word.

can anyone advise me about what I need/should be doing pls? Im utterly clueless about this kind of thing.

Support in school is based on needs, not diagnosis.

You can request an EHCNA yourself. You don’t need the school to do it. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use.

What support is the school providing? What have they already tried? Has DD already got a SEN Support document (called different things in different schools, e.g. IEP, one page profile, MyPlan…)? Has DD seen any outside agencies? Request a meeting with the SENCO.
