What does this actually mean?

Please could somebody help me understand this - what does the local authority recommending “ASD Specialist Provision” actually mean? Does this mean a school solely for autistic students? Or could this mean a generic specialist school catering for many different types of SEN, with autism being one of them? Thanks x

A generic SS isn’t an ASD specialist school. However, who knows what the LA really means. They could easily mean a special school who admits autistic pupils among other needs because what LAs say and what they actually mean and do isn’t always the same thing.

Hi, thanks for your reply, if they have actually put it in writing in his annual review paperwork that he needs ASD specialist schooling would that mean I would have a strong case to insist on just that, an ASD specialist school as opposed to a generic SEN school?

They may still force you to appeal.
