Hi! I’m reaching out to Sen parents. I’m 24, have a 4yo DD (awaiting ASD assessment) who is pre verbal, high care needs and will be starting Sen school in September, as well as a 2yo DS (also awaiting ASD assessment) who is verbal and still working his care needs out.
i would just like to reach out to other Sen parents, as i have been feeling like the loneliness in the country, when there are so many other Sen parents feeling the same way!

Hello.

There is a Goose and Carrot pub thread on SN chat. Feel free to join us if you want.

For support in real life, have you looked to see if there are groups locally? Your local parent carer forum should be able to signpost even if they don’t run suitable groups themself.

@perpetualplatespinningthank you so much! I’ve just commented. I am currently looking at groups, I think the last month or two it’s really hit me how lonely it can be, I have friends with neurotypical children so i always feel a bit lost.

I have a non verbal 4 year old with ASD whose starting Sen school in September. It's hard not to have local people going through the same thing.

I shall join the thread for sure :) There do happen to be local groups for me but sadly it clashes with nursery now but it was a big help when we were able to go. Then although the local social media groups are reasonably active it's a bit tricky to relate when they ve got very different care needs to my son.

@1995SENNDMUM I completely agree. Even my 2 have different needs it’s extremely hard to find someone who is in the same but different situation. My daughter is non/pre verbal, high care needs, suspected PDA/PICA

That must be hard having the PDA and that level of care needs and then their sibling being so different needs wise. my son's an only child so we manage to divide and conquer sometimes but with the sleep problems, the very loud vocal stimming and having no family nearby it gets quite overwhelming and lonely.

TTC24 · 13/07/2025 12:56

@1995SENNDMUMIt is but as you said we divide and conquer. My partner has our son on a night and I our daughter for the sleep issues. I’m in West Yorkshire, is that close by? It is hard, my girl is the same with sleep loud vocals and behaviours. X

We re in Lancashire so I m afraid probably an hour or two away from you. People suggest earplugs etc for the noise but even industrial ones don't dull my son's noise enough 😅

Sorry, I thought it was for parents with SEN 😂 Might need a group for that!

TTC24 · 01/09/2025 19:08
