Concerta XL side effects

My 14YO DS has started medication for ADHD recently and has been taking 18mg Concerta XL for a month.
At the end of last week he woke up
complaining of stomach ache and it’s not eased. He’s lost about 3lb in 5 days and isn’t sleeping due to the discomfort.
is there a possibility that the stomach ache is related to his meds, even though he’s been n a steady dose for about a month prior without issue? We’re about to increase to 27mg and I’m worried about making things worse. He’s a fairly slim kid as it is.

I’m trying to get a GP appointment (like
hen’s teeth) but our ADHD diagnosis was private (due to a 2 year wait on the NHS) as his is current prescription and they don’t do
shared care in our region. I have visions of being caught between the two systems with different opinions/experts advising.

Any medical advice, or lessons learned from experience would be much appreciated!

Thanks. I’ve got everything crossed that we don’t need to do this. He’s currently on the lowest dose and we’re actually due to increase it in a few days.
Two steps forward, one step back…

Go back to the prescriber, he may need a medication review.
