DLA mandatory reconsideration

So it was 25 weeks ago yesterday since I made a MR. DLA told me yesterday (29/04/25) that the decision makers work longer hours than the call handlers so it may be done on the day and to ring back this morning for an update. I have just got off the phone to them and the call handler told me they have no idea why it hasn’t been done yet, she attempted to call through to a case manager to investigate but it didn’t go through. She’s now said she will have someone call me in the next 2 working days. Feeling a little frustrated with this as I made the original claim over a year ago so it’s taken a really long time and seems to be no end in sight. Has anyone had anything similar at all?

Can I ask if this is his 1st pip award? They do only usually do a short period on 1st application e.g. 2 years. If your happy with his award I wouldn't bother with a MR .. build up your evidence ready for his renewal and hopefully they will award him longer next time!!

Hi all,

he is 12 so under DLA still. I just don’t know what to do for the best, he needs haven’t changed since he was young and to be honest there a lot worse than they was . Just feels unfair with all of that it’s only a 2 year award 😢

How long did your mandatory reconsideration take, and did you get awarded after it. I just applied for the MR for my daughter wrote 3 pages on why I disagree and her amazing backed up what I was saying is true aswell so I’m hoping with abit of luck!! Tia x

I asked for a mandatory reconsideration decision as my child was on enhanced care but after review form renewal, this has been reduced to middle. clearly put condition has worsened. But heard nothing after 25 weeks and called but option says there's a delay for mandatory reconsideration. I asked for reconsideration late march. Any advice

StrivingForSleep · 23/09/2025 13:50

@UniquePombear I would give it a bit longer then call again.

Thanks I will do. Its just theres no option to proceed with asking for mandatoryreconsideraion. it just says wait longer and end call☹️

StrivingForSleep · 23/09/2025 13:55

You can press another option.

JUST ANOTHER DLA POST!!😂😂 my scan date was 30/05 got refused 04/09 done mandatory reconsideration same day and rang yesterday told me they are only now on to Junes MR. I Sent extra evidence off and why I disagree with the decision they lost it so I had to wait for them to investigate where it was cause I had it tracked and signed so 2 weeks ago I had to send another load off and a letter from her teacher. The unknown is killing me my daughter is autistic and has a curve back and hyperflex joints which affects her walking etc. has anyone had it done quickly a answer of longer just what I could expect I pray it won’t go to tribunal TIA🤗🥰

We have done mr for our daughter

today they have send this text

Hoori291 · 06/05/2026 12:53

We have received your request to look at your child's DLA again. Please send us copies of any recent information as soon as possible, which may include school and medical reports or plans, or other information about your child's needs. Originals cannot be returned. You do not need to contact us unless your or your child's circumstances have changed.

Can anyone guide us what to do now ?

StrivingForSleep · 06/05/2026 14:30

@Hoori291 if you have any additional information or evidence that supports your claim and you haven’t previously submitted, send copies of it.

Hoori291 · 06/05/2026 14:31

I have only One new letter from gp and daily diary

is that enough ?

StrivingForSleep · 06/05/2026 14:34

No-one here can say if it is enough or not. It depends on what is written because it is about quality of evidence rather than quantity. It also depends on evidence you have already sent and, to an extent, whose desk it lands on.

UniquePombear · 06/05/2026 17:12

At week 25 of asking for a mandatory reconsideration they rang me and asked me a few questions and after reinstated the higher award. I did not send any further paper work.
Hope this helps
