Could this be ADHD

I have an 18 year old son with ADHD Autism I was told PDA and severe anxiety he didn’t get diagnosed until he was 18 due to him masking was told for years that it was a behavioral issue rather than anything else.
I also have a 12 year old son who has at least 4 different Tics he also cannot sleep without fluffy bedding and pyjamas
He loses things he also has a very nasty temper and is honestly vile at times but then is the most loving boy who wants cuddles and just to be with me.
He has told me recently that when he is in class if he doesn’t understand something or gets bored he feels like he has to move around or talk to people
I have bought a fidget toy for him with agreement with the school for him to use and he has said that it is helping
I have an appointment with the welsh equivalent of Senco on Tuesday.

Whether it is ADHD or not, it sounds like further assessment would be a good idea.

Sensory processing difficulties can have a huge range of effects. From the commonly spoken ones such as not being able to tolerate certain food textures or certain clothing to less commonly mentioned ones that can make being still and concentrating harder and seeking out cuddles. It can also affect emotional regulation.

Thankyou that actually makes sense he will really only eat one type of food as well
His emotions can be very up and down and he can behave like a small child in a shop having to touch everything
Then seem to act his age in other situations so he is up and down

I would consider requesting a referral for an ASD assessment as well as an ADHD assessment.

I will be seeing the school tomorrow about getting him assessed.
With my older son he was being assessed for Autism and when we went back for his results that’s when I was told that not only did he have Autism PDA he also had ADHD
I also have a 10 year old daughter who is exactly like my 18 year old except she also doesn’t sleep she can sleep for 10 minutes honestly and be up for the rest of the night
The school tell me that she has no issues at school so don’t see a problem.
I am honestly at a loss with it all and feel like I am at the beginning of a long journey with my 12 year old and 10 year old.
I am waffling now but thankyou for your help and I will ask for a referral for an ASD assessment as well for him .
