My daughter is 5 nearly 6 in a SEN school. she’s non verbal and Autistic but is coming along amazingly and has settled really well. In the last couple months we’ve had 6 incidents being:
-Pushed into a fence causing red mark to face —chair thrown at her head
-caught between 2 kids fighting
-bitten on her arm causing a massive red mark
-bitten on her leg which caused blue bruising straight away (the child who bit her is 1-1)
-slapped across the face by another child..
whilst I understand these things can happen with SEN children, I’m struggling over the fact this many things have happened. My daughter isn’t aggressive and wouldn’t touch anyone else, so I feel awful knowing she’s there having these things done to her when she can’t even talk properly to defend herself or talk to a teacher/tell me when she gets home.
ive spoken to the school and it’s agreed we are going for a meeting next week. Her main class teachers are brilliant and have been extremely apologetic over the incidents and have called a team meeting over the incident today being the bite to her leg.
I want to go in with as much information on my back to go at them over these incidents and what can be done to prevent my child from being hurt.
Does anyone have any advice on things I could say/do for her? Because at this rate I’m wanting to pull her out of school which I know will effect her negatively as she relies on her school routine (half terms/summer holidays are hell where she loves school so much)
Thank you
