Family new to ehcp. Nephew who is 9 is in asd unit in ordinary school and has ehcp.School held 2 reviews one for dad to attend and one for mum ( divorced but dad has PR). Is this the norm?Dad didn't know until later that meeting he attended was after paperwork sent to LA. Not happy about this. Also review docs showed that class teacher didn't produce statement or attend review. Child in mainstream 80% of time so would have expected her to have an input. Is this usual? Child has OT but again no statement from OT. Had difficulty getting review document after review - had to pester school and it took 3 months. School kept saying no paperwork because no changes asked for. Later found out that school asked for changes but authority said no. A lot on review docs was new to dad and not discussed in review - stuff on problems child was having for eg so key things
Didn't get other people's statements 2 weeks before and only got unit teachers after he asked. Parents had both given permission to share info so surprised he never got other parents. Also has anyone asked for personal budget and if so what sort of things can it cover? Child has a lot issues and additional play/ art therapy would be useful if possible. He has year 5 review this year so worried that his input might be ignored if he's seen after review like last year ,( 4 days after paperwork sent to authority). Is this normal procedure? Any experience of process useful. Have looked at information on Internet and what has happened seems out of order. AiBU? Thank you
