Have you got a referral to speech and language therapy?
Speech and language UK are good charity to call for advice.
As a starting point, I'd look at intensive interaction, its simple and you don't need a professional to teach you anything (although to be honest you can learn most speech therapy advice yourself to start with).
There's a good explanation here https://www.oxfordhealth.nhs.uk/oxtc/good-advice/intensive-interaction/

I would push for a referral to SALT now. In some areas, you can self refer yourself &/or they have drop in sessions.

Sorry what is SALT :) x

Speech and Language Therapy. Sometimes called SLT and sometimes SALT/SaLT.

Call the HV and say to them you need a referral, if they also say no call up the SALT department and ask for a copy of their referral criteria.
I took me 6 phone calls to the health visitors between 18-22 months to get them to agree to refer my son and we got his autism diagnosis last month, don't stop at the first hurdle.

Have you checked if you can self refer to SALT? In lots of areas you can. This is separate from a referral for an autism assessment.
