Y10 transfers

Hi - I have a DD with HFA. We are looking for options to move her because her current school is not supporting her needs. We are concerned about the lack of mental health support. Any recommendations of schools that offer Y10 transfers? We are in East Sussex, but can also consider schools in Kent and the border of East/West Sussex. Thanks!

Are you looking for state or private? Mainstream or specialist? Does DD have an EHCP?

If you looking for state schools and don’t have an EHCP, you can make an in year application but whether you are offered a place will depend on who has spaces, so I would start by asking the LAs/schools (some schools are their own admission authorities) whether they have a space.

Presumably, she has begun GCSE courses. Do you know whether the schools you will consider will be able to accommodate her choices and whether the exam boards and content are similar. It might cause additional stress to cope with potential changes.
