Special needs advice/moving to Bath

We're thinking of moving from near Oxford to Bath (near my work) over the next 18 months.
My DD is 9 and currently attends a private prep - she's doing fine, not massively academic but probably somewhere in the middle, happy, artistic and outgoing but probably suits a small/friendly environment. I figure there will be lots of choices for her.

My son (12) has MLD and autism. He has an EHCP and is a special needs secondary school. Having ended up in court due to lack of places I am a bit terrified of experiencing the same again!

Having called the SEN schools in/around Bath - they say they are massively oversubscribed (although I see a new school is being built in 2025?).
We are currently very rural here and I like the idea of my son being somewhere he can walk to a shop when he gets older - albeit with help.
Any advice as to what living in or near Bath is like with a child with SEN?
And suggestions on good locations to access schools, which will suit both children?
Thanks in advance for your advice!!

If you are wanting to stay in the independent sector for DD, I have heard good things about The Paragon School and Monkton. I don’t have personal experience, though.

For DS, you could look at Fosse Way. Be aware Bath and NE Somerset is a safety valve LA so unfortunately you may well end up having to appeal again.
