Hi, I’d love some advice from parents here please. My 13 year old daughter has a condition called osteochondritis dessicans in both knees. In June she had open surgery to both knees. She has a 5 inch scar down each knee cap. We won’t know if surgery has been successful for another 8 weeks or so until she has follow up MRI. She can walk without crutches now but is still limited in her mobility. Consultant has said no PE until she has follow up. School have said she can sit out of lessons but this week she was told to sit out on the ground in the netball court and couldn’t then easily get up. Do any of your children who cannot take part in PE lessons do alternative activities? What provision could school be putting in place for her instead? Many thanks.

The school could at least offer a chair. If being outside isn’t suitable, DD could go to the library, pastoral/SEN department or sit at the back of another class.
