Hi, I’ve got an interview for a SEND Administration role in a SEND school coming up next week. I’ve never worked in a school. Just recently done a SEND course and have a severely autistic child so I have a lot of personal experience. The interview is for 3 and 1/2 hours with an unseen test - can anyone give me any advice as to what I can expect and what questions I should be preparing to answer as I have no idea what to expect and to be honest, im absolutely bricking it! Any advice would be appreciated

The duties of SEN administrators can vary from school to school, but there will probably be a question about safeguarding. Also working with other agencies, communicating with professionals and parents. Maybe something about gathering and analysing data.

Reading the SENCOP and IPSEA and SOSSEN’s websites will help understand the SEN system and EHCPs.

Depending on the type of special school, some have SEN administrators helping with exam access arrangements. If the special school is one where pupils sit formal qualifications, reading JCQ’s guidance could help.

Thank you so much. I’ll have a good look through the sites you’ve suggested. Thanks for your advice, it’s very much appreciated.
