Little kickers autism??

Hiya my little boy turns 3 next month and I’ve always wanted to join him to little kickers (before his regression at 22 months). He’s very mildly autistic & is nearly fully potty trained he could kick a ball from the minute he could walk then lost interest but I was wondering if anyone had sent their little one to little kickers or a football club who is autistic. I’d love to send him but I don’t know if it would upset him joining a club of any kind as he’s really shy especially around children his age. I’m still very new to asd and we’re just at the start of our journey. Any opinion’s appreciated ☺️

Look at ability counts football sessions. Your local FA will be able to tell you the nearest club. Although many don’t start until 5.

It really depends on the child and the club. My DS is autistic and really enjoys his mainstream sports club, but it's a small group with excellent coaches. We tried a dance class but that was larger, less structured, indoors and noisy and, while he coped ok, he didn't get much from it.

Talk to the coach and ask about their experience with SEN kids and inclusivity generally. What would help your son succeed? They may be able to make little tweaks that make it easier for him.

Yes very similar to my little boy, I know he’s still very young but noises aren’t really a bother to him it’s his speech and his shyness which is the biggest issue and I just worry it’ll make him worse. I will definitely give my local coach a message. Xx

Even additional needs football classes are not for my autistic ds so it does depend on their interest and needs but we go to little kickers with my youngest and they do seem inclusive xx

Have you got a football fun factory near you? Ours is really inclusive for my AuDHD girl (7). There's quite a few high needs SEN in her group.

I’ve messaged our local little kickers group and they said they’ve got children past and present with autism so I definitely think I’ll give them a go, I don’t think football fun starts until 5 unfortunately but thank you! ☺️

I can only try I think I’m still so new to autism I don’t know what’s right and wrong but I’m definitely going to give it a go xx
