Hello!
We are about to come to the end of our first year of school and therefore navigating our first summer holidays with a 5 year old autistic/ADHD child.
We're not going away this summer (too busy) and the thought of our usual days out which will also be busy, are not filling me with joy!
I'm starting to think about activities that we can do and wondered what ideas other parents may have to share? Bonus points for low cost, currently in the middle of a ££££ renovation 😬
My contributions...
Breakfast at the beach - we like to get out early for a breakfast picnic and an early paddle in the sea. Gets him out to burn some energy whilst the beach is quiet and before the sun gets to its hottest.
Pond dipping - nets currently 99p in middle aisle of Lidl this week so we've replaced our old ones. We will head to a local nature reserve with a wildlife pond, take a shallow dish (we have an unused cat litter tray for this) to put any finds in and see what we can see.
Local animal sanctuary - costs a few quid to enter and is always quiet. Lots of safe spaces to run wild, a playground, various farm animals to feed.
We have also signed up to some of the forest school type activities put on by our local SEND services which are about 2 quid per child so will be interesting to see what they're like.
Any tips, recommendations or suggestions gratefully received!
