A DP at DS SS
who’s DC is in year 6 and moving to a SS but secondary level. They are being put in the secure unit as they have complex needs. Their family describe it as more like a prison cell in the third world, with health and safety issues and no stimulation for the students but they’ve been told they can’t homeschool. Surely this shouldn’t be allowed?

Of course it isn’t OK. If the parents are unhappy with the placement named they could have appealed.

Permission to deregister (which isn’t quite the same as permission to EHE) from a SS should not be withheld unnecessarily. If the LA has refused, the parents can ask the SoS.
