ASD and ADD assessment advice needed

Hi, my DD is just about to start her GCSEs and it has been recommended that she should be assessed for ASD and ADD. I don't really know where to start other than understanding that I will need to look for a private assessment as the wait lists here are so long for CAMHS and private assessment. Do they even do a dual assessment? I've read some threads where people suggest looking for somewhere that specialises in assessing girls - is this necessary? Can anyone let me know roughly how much it will cost? Any guidance is gratefully received, thanks.

Some providers will assess for both. Others won’t. Of those who will, some will have completely separate processes and others will assess all in the same process (although they are separate tools used to assess).

Personally, I would want someone who has experience in assessing girls. Costs vary widely.

Have you spoken to the school and GP?

Having done this for ADHD, I would say it was around the £2k mark for assessment, meds, follow-ups etc to get the the point where we could move to shared care with GP for meds. It's then around £600/year for the follow ups for the foreseeable.

ASD is generally a lot more expensive initially - I think around £2.5k - but you don't have to pay out for medication and not sure what follow-ups there are.

From initial email to diagnosis was just under 4 months.

And yes, you want someone who has experience in working with girls, the presentation and issues can be very different.
