Hi guys

I have finally been advised I am getting back dated Carers element and Disability element from UC for my little boy. How long did you guys wait for the money to come through once you got the letter on your journal in regards to amount of back date you will receive?

There’s no set timeframe, I’m afraid. It is often within 24/48hours, but not always.

How long did you wait for to decision maker to make a decision?

Hi, I hope someone can offer some advice. I requested backpay of the carer's element of UC which weren't aware of until I found out about it on a forum. After 4 months of waiting, and numerous journal entries and a complaint, we found out today that we weren't successful. Decision made: no arrears of carers element due. We believe we deserve this as we are carers of our youngest son who is autistic. We were successful in receiving backpay for the disabled element so I don't understand why we haven't been successful for the carers element. Any advice would be gratefully received.
