How to contact SENCO

Hi, how do I get in touch with the school SENCO? Do I need to be referred to her via the teacher or can I contact them directly?
My child is 4 in school nursery and will be starting reception at the same school in September.
We're currently waiting on an assessment at the Child Development Centre and in the process of filling in the forms for that.
My child has some toileting difficulties at school, (has been the same the entire school year) and we experience some different behaviours at home to what they see at nursery. "She's fine at nursery though" is the teacher.
Can I get in touch with the SENCO myself or do I need to ask the teacher to put us in touch?

There is usually an email address for the sendco on the school website. At the least, their name will be there, so you could drop in to, call or email school office and ask for the sendco to contact you.

If you have the SENCO’s contact details you can contact them directly. If you don’t and they aren’t publicly available, ask the reception or nursery staff to pass a message on asking the SENCO to contact you.

Thanks. Just checked and th SENCOs name is in the website but with the general office email address. I'll perhaps ask for them to pass on a message. I had hoped the situation would have resolved due to my child getting older or that the nursery teacher would be more proactive in helping my daughter but it hasn't been the case.

You definitely do NOT need to go via the teacher. It's a statutory role, and you should absolutely contact the SENCo with any worries and certainly if your child is getting assessed externally. Some teachers are better at recognising and addressing SEN than others.
