Private autism/ADHD test?

Hi all

I seem to be getting conflicting information so wondering if anyone has gone through this.

DD is on the pathways for autism/ADHD but it's a 3-5 year wait in our area.

We have enough saved for a test which follows Nice guidelines and has bupa clinicians but my LA have said they wouldn't accept a private test even if it followed the same guidelines as NHS unless I went down right to choose.

The right to choose is still a 2 year wait and our doctors said they could possibly support private if it follows guidelines but I need to do homework.

Has anyone experienced this? Don't want to pay for a test and it not be worth the paper it's on. Looking online seems a lot of conflicting information.

The place that offers tests say NHS and LA will accept it but everywhere else is wishy washy with answers.

The LA, schools and NHS can’t have a blanket policy of refusing to accept an independent assessment and any potential diagnoses purely because it is independent. The validity of any assessment and diagnosis is less likely to be questioned if you use someone who follows the NICE guidelines &/or works/worked in the NHS.

Thanks I've seen your post on other thread too. I know I've done a couple.

https://autismnortheast.org.uk/assessment-costs/ this is who I was looking at they follow Nice and ados, but there is also some right to refer providers and although the waiting list is 24 months I'm not sure if I should ask their private cost and use a recommended provider from the GP even if I went private.

@NotChained did you decide on a provider to do your child’s assessment please? On the same path so any advice greatly appreciated

@Jedstre yes I've picked one. We have to wait until September for our first appointment then from there it should take 8 weeks. I ended up going with autism north east as it was face to face, followed Nice guidelines, had hpc accredited and followed ados.

There are three routes you can go down. The neurodivergent pathways, you can get reffered to right to choose, we would have done this but the one we wanted didn't do adhd and Autism and all the rest only did adhd 18+, or private.

I know there is an online one that follows nice which I can get details for we just wanted to be seen in person.
