ADHD & neck tics

My 7 nearly 8 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD nearly 18 months ago and is on a low dose of medication which does seem to help. He's been on the medication for same amount of time.

Over the past 2-3 weeks he has developed a neck tic where he seems to crack his neck repeatedly every couple of minutes. Its really noticeable and he says he cant stop it and feels better once he's done it. Apart from asking him about this initially, we have mostly ignored it.

We aren't due back in the ADHD clinic for a couple of weeks, I don't think its related to his medication as he's been taking it 18 months and this has only just started happening, but obviously could be wrong.

Can anyone offer any tried and tested supplements that could help the tics? I've read magnesium and B6 can help but ideally would like some advise from real people.

Thanks

I would really recommend reading "The Parent's Guide to ADHD Medications" as they address tics in there.

IIrc it generally means that methylphenidate and stimulants are not a good choice and there are medications that are specifically for those who have tics alongside the ADHD.
