Am I being unreasonable?

I am in the process of doing my DC (3years old) ECHP and 2/3 health care professionals I’ve come across are discouraging me from naming the placement as a specialist school. Stating that I should send DC to mainstream as there are children with more needs who have priority. I don’t understand if I would rather not send my DC to mainstream because DC is non verbal and in nappies. I understand mainstream can support but I don’t want DC failed. I am still requesting the placement at a specialist school but I am doubting my self. Am I better off sending DC to mainstream or should I push for specialist and appeal if it is discouraged.

Ignore them.

Focus only on your own child and what they need.

Other children's needs are not your responsibility.

You shouldn’t let professionals (who I suspect are related to the LA/NHS?) put you off. Don’t make decisions based on other DC having more complex needs. If you think a SS is required name that as your preferred placement and be prepared to appeal if the LA refuse.

Ultimately we can’t fix the broken system. We can only do what’s right by your own child. Your child sounds like they would thrive in an SEN school, so that is what I would fight for in your shoes.
