How to speed up help? I'm lost...

I need help figuring out what DS needs and how to get it. I mastered the American system when we went there to get away from DV in UK. We've been back 7 months.

But my issue now is that was his American GP, teachers, therapists agreed - he needs reassessment as the previous diagnosis was intentionally exaggerated to get the support he need at 33 months!

I haven't been able to get a diagnosis here. DS clearly needs some extra support. It's hard to know what.

At times I think he ticks all the boxes of hyperlexia 3 but no ASD symptoms and yet in most counties hyperlexia 3 is considered a form of ASD and to me that is not going to be useful based on past experience. He has quite a few family members diagnosed with giftedness which is a poorly named form of neurodiversity. He also has many ADHD traits.

How do I find someone that isn't going to lazily shove him in a box? Do any of you have experience with getting help to get a diagnosis for something that is less common or not really falling clearly into a particular diagnosis? I have a private policy for him. Originally my employer was paying for it. I kept it just in case he is diagnosed with a rare disorder I have. (Which took decades to diagnose... all hail the J&J covid vaccine for that one!) But how can I find someone in London? I feel like I'm just going around in circles. All I know at this point is that with a diagnosis he will get more support. But how to get an appropriate diagnosis is where I am 100% stuck. Ta!!!

Support is based on need, not diagnosis.

Whereabouts are you?

There is a charity called Starjumpz in Kent. They diagnosed my daughter a few years ago. They were good and cover a very wide range of needs.
