Secondary consultations

Hi
Our DS is in yr 6 and we should hopefully find out this week the secondary school named on his EHCP. It's all a bit of a farce and I finally managed to find out today what schools were consulted about him.

We have been asking for specialist provision but he is mainstream currently. Most of the schools consulted are specialist provision so does this mean that they have finally accepted he needs it.

Our local mainstream was consulted and we know that they said that they couldn't meet his needs in several areas so hopefully it's not there.

Not necessarily, unfortunately. It looks positive, but LAs are unpredictable, so you can't say for certain until the amended EHCP has been finalised.

Ok thanks. Wishful thinking probably. Our local mainstream has already said no which is good as we didn't what that either. We do have a preferred mainstream if it comes to it but that wasn't one of the consultees. One of the specialist schools is 30 miles away which wouldn't be ideal either. Oh well time will tell.
