Hi, my little boy is 2 and goes to nursery 3 days a week (8:30-4:30) and we pay £6.50 per day for lunch (only option) my boy had been attending for 6 months and wouldn’t eat anything on offer (not one thing) so I was having to pick him up at lunchtime and take him home for lunch. Whilst still paying for the full day and the lunch. After 6 months he got a new keyworker who was really great and finally we were allowed to provide him with a lunchbox and he started to do full days.
I have just been told by nursery, in an email that the cost for lunch is increasing and there will also be an additional cost of £3 per day for snacks. Now I’m thinking is it unreasonable for me to ask them to waiver the lunch/snack cost for my boy? It’s essentially costing me £1500 per year for lunch that he’s never eaten and is unlikely to ever eat whilst also paying to provide a packed lunch. I know it’s the policy of the nursery but they acknowledge that he doesn’t eat their lunch, and I have not only paid for hours that my son hasn’t attended as I was having to pick him up early due to not eating what was on offer but also had to pretty much pay for 2x lunches per day.
im not sure how best to approach this?
