Appendix a for EHCP

Hello all

The school have submitted a request for an EhCP after years of difficulty in education for my child who has ASD. It has been agreed that he needs a specialist setting and embedded learning and emotional support.

The council have written to me acknowledging receipt and asking me to fill in appendix a if I haven't already. However, I have already completed parents views and he has answered the questions with the support of the school. It is worded a bit differently on the appendix a, however, would you say this section has already been completed and uploaded with the school report. I have obviously seen it and it has all my views and his views on the document.

I am just asking as I have obviously been saturated with paperwork and don't really want to be repeating myself if I don't need to.

Thanks

You don’t have to complete it if you don’t want to. The LA may say you haven’t filled it in, but if you don’t want to you don’t have to use their form.

Just so you are aware, even if the LA go on to issue an EHCP there’s no guarantee they will name a special school. Even when the parents, school and professionals deem it necessary they often force parents to appeal.

I'm fully expecting a fight for it. Any support is better than the situation we are in now. If things don't improve I'm going to look into flexi schooling anyway.
I just think I've already covered everything it's asking in the paperwork I have already completed. I don't want look like I'm not compliant though

If you are at the point or get to the point where DC can’t attend school full-time rather than flexischooling (which the school may not agree to and it leaves you responsible for the education outside of school) you could request provision under s.19 of the Education Act 1996 for DC who are unable to attend school full-time.
