Diagnosis and masking

Does anyone have any advice or experience with getting a diagnosis for a child when they are masking at school please ? Also how did you realise they we’re definitely masking at school?

There are usually signs of masking at school when you know what you are looking for. For example, the coke bottle effect, anxiety/other MH difficulties, social difficulties, school avoidance or avoidance of certain lessons.

Yes my child suffers with all of those. I just don’t know who to turn too as my child isn’t displaying the same behaviours at school and I’ve been told by the health visitor I need school evidence to be referred so i feel stuck.

Have you spoken to the SENCO? There will be signs of masking at school.

If you can’t self refer in your area, have you spoken to the GP?
