My son is in year 5 with a echp, I want him to definitely do GCSEs, he currently has many friends who don’t have additional needs. He gets a lot of support in school and is behind so I know he will need a SS. Any advice of diverse schools he will thrive in. He doesn’t display as having ASD and I would deem it mild.

When you say DS is academically behind, how far behind do you mean? Have a look at Abingdon House and Holmewood, but depending on DS’s level one or neither may be suitable for his ability.

Thank you for your response he’s at his level in maths and maybe 1 year behind in English. I will definitely look into both these schools.

In that case, Holmewood is probably more suitable than Abingdon House.

You could also look at The Rise in Feltham which may just about be within travelling distance.
